As of my last update in September 2021, Facebook had a setting called "Off-Facebook Activity." This setting allows you to manage and control the data that Facebook collects from third-party websites and apps you visit while you're not using Facebook. Keep in mind that the platform might have updated its settings or features after my last update, so it's always a good idea to check Facebook's official help center or settings for the most current information.
Here's how to access the "Off-Facebook Activity" setting as of September 2021:
1. Open the Facebook app on your mobile device or visit the Facebook website on your computer.
2. Log in to your account if you haven't already.
3. On the mobile app, tap on the three horizontal lines (the "hamburger" menu) in the bottom right corner to open the navigation menu. On the website, the menu is on the top-right corner.
4. Scroll down and look for "Settings & Privacy" (on the website, it may be labeled as "Settings").
5. Tap on "Settings & Privacy," and then tap on "Settings."
6. In the "Your Facebook Information" section, you should find "Off-Facebook Activity." Tap on it.
7. Once you're in the "Off-Facebook Activity" section, you can:
8. View a summary of the information Facebook has received from third-party websites and apps.
9. Disconnect all future off-Facebook activity, which means Facebook won't use this data to show you targeted ads.
10. Clear history, which will remove the information Facebook has received about your activity from third-party websites and apps.
Please note that managing this setting may impact the ads you see on Facebook, as it affects the platform's ability to use data from your activity outside of Facebook for targeted advertising. If the setting has changed or been updated, you can refer to Facebook's official help center or settings documentation for the most accurate and up-to-date instructions.
